Our school community at Dana Street Primary School is vibrant and supportive. We have a very active School Council and many school community helpers.
Classroom Helpers Program
Parents and school community members are encouraged to assist where appropriate in classrooms and programs throughout the day. We run a Classroom Helpers Program at the beginning of each year which we encourage parents to take part in. These sessions provide information and strategies for parents wanting to help within the classroom.
School Council
School Council meetings are open to all parents of Dana Street Primary School and are held once a month. The School Council has 10 elected parent representatives who assist in making certain school-based decisions as the voice of the school community. There are also 4 staff representatives on our School Council (Principal, Assistant Principal and two teaching/non-teaching staff).
Helpers for School Programs, Excursions and Camps
So that our school programs, excursions and camps run effectively we often ask for the help of school community members. You may wish to put your name forward to assist with one or more of these school activities.
Family and Parent Events
Throughout the year the school organizes a number of family nights and activities such as our school concerts series, soiree and art show. Our School Council also organizes family and parent fundraising events such as movie nights, fetes and trivia nights.
